If there are problems pairing your Bodyguard 3 device to your Firstbeat Life app with Bluetooth, please check these troubleshooting steps:
Have you charged the device's battery first?
If you are just starting to use the service and are ready to make your first measurement but the device won't pair, check that you have charged the device's battery first. When delivered, the device is in factory settings and in battery saving mode, and it is woken up by recharging. When the battery is charged, you can continue with pairing the device.
Does the app have permission to use the camera?
If pairing with the QR code is not working, please check that you have allowed the app to use your phone's camera. You can check this from your phone's settings. Try also pairing the device by entering the serial code by hand.
Does you phone find the device?
Go to your phone's Bluetooth settings and check that your phone can detect the Bodyguard 3 device. If the phone detects the device, it will show the device serial number on the list. In case the device is marked as "Connected", the Firstbeat Life app is unable to find and connect with the device. If this is the case, disconnect the device by selecting "Forget this device" and return to Firstbeat Life app to try pairing again.
While in Bluetooth menu check that the device serial number listed there is the same that is printed on the device.
Android user: Is the phone's location set on?
With Android operating system in addition to the Bluetooth the phone's location needs to be turned on when pairing the Bodyguard 3 device with the app. So, please check your phone's manual how to turn this setting on. Also, note that in addition to turning on the location, you need to allow the Firstbeat Life app to use the location.
Here is an example picture of what the menu in an Android phone might look like:
Close the application
Shut the Firstbeat Life -application and make sure that the app won't stay open in the background. Once the application is properly closed, restart the application and try pairing the device again.
Restart your phone
If the actions above are not helping, it might be that the Bluetooth connection of the phone is stuck. Close your mobile phone entirely for 30 seconds and restart your phone. Once your phone has been restarted, try to pair the device again.
